| The gays are coming to network television. The LGBT+ community has made strides in appearing on network television, but they are rarely (if ever) the focus. A new docu-drama on ABC hopes to correct that problem. Written by openly gay screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, it will be premiering on February 27th at 9:00 PM. The show features appearances by heavyweights Mary-Louise Parker, Rosie O'Donnell, and Whoopie Goldberg to name a few. It is a 4 episode mini series, with the others airing on March 1st-3rd. The initial air date for When We Rise had to be shifted in order to accommodate the United States new “president” and his openly anti-LGBT+, anti-women, anti-minority VP Mike Pence. Hopefully the mini series gives the American public a chance to see members of the LGBT+ community as people instead of caricatures.
