 | Based on a true story is always the worst thing you can hear- unless it's attached to a 2 Chainz album. Based on a somewhat true story is something else entirely. The new sitcom Girlboss, released last April is based on the Sophia Amoruso autobiography #Girlboss. Get rid of the hashtag and throw in a somewhat unlikeable, Jennifer Lawerence-esque character portrayed by Britt Robertson and you have a crass new take on a sitcom. Set in San Francisco, it follows Sofia- a girl who makes her money flipping clothes. It's like flipping houses, but with vintage clothing. |
RuPaul stars as the next door neighbor. There's conventionally attractive men and a girl who goes from E-Bay to internet start up. It's only in it's first season, but there's enough wit and charm to make it a 2017 stand out. One of my classmates turned me onto it, so it at least has collegiate approval.
