Scream Queens is set to air on Fox on Tuesday September 22nd. The mens behind the show are Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan. These names may ring partially familiar to you. These are the same three men behind the hit singing dramedy Glee. |

With Glee ending it's series run this year the trio has paired up to create the newest family friendly slasher. It's the second show this year to branch out into slasher sub genre and if it maintains the same level of trashy goodness as Scream does on MTV this show should have no troubles being picked up for another season.

All the inconsistencies of Glee should be weeded out in this new show. Each season will feature a new plot line and a tentatively new cast if it's picked up for a second season. This isn't the first horror drama created by Ryan Murphy. He's one of the two voices behind the legacy of American Horror Story. Hotel is set to premier on FX this October 7th with Lady Gaga joining the cast.
Ryan Murphy must have decided to strike while the iron is hot and introduce another horror show onto network television. They've all been doing well. Not only his, but other horror based shows like Bates Motel have maintained strong ratings. |
The cast is the biggest drawing force to this show. Emma Stone has been borrowed from American Horror Story to herald Scream Queens as the bitchy ruler of the Kappa House. The all star casts boasts appearances by Nick Jonas, Ariana Grande, Abigail Breslin, and Keke Palmer to name a few.

Jamie Lee Curtis also stars playing the role of Dean Cathy Munsch. The woman opposed to the Kappas who insists that the pledging be “opened to everyone”. Ryan Murphy also borrows Lea Michele to throw some Glee fame into the already hyped show.

The show's website describes Scream Queens as “over the top biting satire (…) part black comedy, part slasher flick, (…) a classic whodunit.” With Ryan Murphy and all the original creators of Glee behind the project I'm sure it will be just that.

I am hoping that it will be stronger then Scream on MTV. Although, still a guilty pleasure, Scream Queens has the potential to be more then just a guilty pleasure and a truly compelling watch.
