Love You To Death
Tegan & Sara June 3rd Canadian rockers Tegan & Sara are back for their return at pop stardom. They worked with Greg Kurstin, the man partially behind Adele's domination with 23, and they led it off with peppy synthpop single “Boyfriend” that's yet to gain traction on American radio. |
Brandy Clark
June 10th
Country songwriter, Brandy Clark is stepping out from behind the scenes to release her second studio album, which hopefully turn her into a household name. The album includes the hard hitting “Girl Next Door” and the sentimental Sheryl Crow song “Homecoming Queen”. The album follows a loose concept of a small town and it's local gossip, the tracklist interspersed with dialogue and skits.
Last Year Was Complicated
Nick Jonas June 10th Teen hearthrob Nick Jonas is returning with his second solo effort. It features the top 40 duet “Close” with Sweden's saddest songwriter Tove Lo. The album hopes to solidify his place as a music staple after he proved commercial viability with Nick Jonas in 2014. One of the most disappointing and throwaway albums of the year. New single “Chainsaw” has yet to convince me that he can deliver. |
Digital Distortion
Iggy Azalea June 24th Set for a June release, it will be interesting to see if Iggy's new album isn't delayed after the tepid reception of fantastic lead single “Team” on radio. 2014's The New Classic set the bar low for expectations of her new album, but with a new musical shift that embraces the pop elements that were always her core, it will be interesting to see if she can deliver. |
Iggy Azalea is one of the most controversial figures in hip hop. She's been criticized for past statements she's made on race and homosexuality, never quite apologizing for any of it. She had a whirlwind time two years ago and it seems as if she's ready to let us have it and it seems like the music is here to back it up, or at the very least the singles. My interest in this album is strong, but my embrace of Iggy Azalea as a person remains wary. In the mean time as long as Iggy Igs is staying in her lane, I think we owe it to her to #LeaveIggyAlone. She might not be the best rapper, but her flow is just as solid as Yo Gotti's.
