The world may have been caught up in the One Direction's new Ed Sheeran-esque debut “This Town” (for good sentimental reasons), but they clearly missed out on Eden Xo's new single “El Barrio”. The first taste of new music we've had from her since she expertly covered The Thompson Twin's “Hold Me Now. The new slice of electro-pop is just as addictive as her previous material and is hopefully a sign that an EP (Album!?) could be coming soon. After trouble with Virgin Records it's unlikely previous releases “Too Cool To Dance” and “The Weekend” will make appearances. “El Barrio” was worth the wait. It's breathless and has trippy, low budget/high quality visuals reminiscent of underground rapper Brooke Candy. We have flourescent body paint (think Beyonce's “Blow”), a David Bowie space helmet, and a backdrop made out of chicken wire and army blankets. |
The should be hit from Eden Xo could be 2016's “La Isla Bonita”. The Spanish word dropping is reminiscent of the Madonna classic in the best way possible. Musically, the song shares features with the new Weeknd single “Starboy”. We'll know Eden Xo has made it once claims of illuminati start tagging themselves to her latest music visual.
