  | Punk rock duo PWR BTTM has a new single out in anticipation of their second studio album Pageant due May 12th. It's the second after “Big Beautiful Day”. The song showed the importance to the visual aspect of PWR BTTM. A music video full of glitter, lollipops and a righteous anthem full of “fuck” and “mother fucker!” “Answer My Text” on the other hand the first song from their new album that screams GREATNESS. It could easily be this album's “I Wanna Boy” (read here) the bombastic highlight of their debut LP Ugly Cherries. It's an anthem for everyone single and looking for love. I gave you my number. Waited an appropriate time, sent a “hey :)”, and you left me on read?!?!?! It goes further, exploring what happens even after you get that elusive first date. |
It's got those opening Top 40 guitar licks that would make 2004 Avril Lavigne shake. “Answer My Text” emulates none of the trends for rock acts in pop music (remember that Lorde was classifed as a “rock” act when “Royals” came out). The wall of guitars goes a little too hard for a Walk The Moon kind of cross over, but it's the kind of brutal honesty of the lyrics that makes it eminently listenable. "Text me back you dick!" could be this year's "I'm going to ruin you cunt!"
