  | Fergie is back! (again) Thursday, November 10th found Fergie dropping a new song off her her long awaited Double Dutchess. This song came on the heels of the unprecedented presidential election, where the most qualified woman in the world lost to a man who has never held political office and has started filling his cabinet with white nationalists and neo-nazi approved members. “Life Goes On” is topical and meant to light up radio, in a way “L.A. Love (la la)” and “M.I.L.F.$” have failed to do. Fergie sings about coffee, brings back some reggae tinged vocals, and it's an easy breezy slice of radio pop that name checks Bugatti and Ferrari like any good hip hop inspired act would. |
The song is a rallying cry to carry on, despite the trajectory of the current political climate. Will it be a hit? Will it be the song that finally gets Double Dutchess an official release date? That remains to be seen, but it might very well get her patient fan base through the next four years.
Interesting side note on this song, is that it replaced a Nicki Minaj collaboration, tentatively called “You Already Know” from release. “Life Goes On” is the song America needs right now. In a time where our president elect can criticize the cast of Hamilton for asking for equality, but ignore all the hate crimes perpetrated in his name.
