There is a strong possibility that you don't know who Ester Dean is. On my former blog I gushed about her and how much I love her and how sexy I think she is, but the only time I think I've mentioned her on this blog was when I wrote about the similarities between Rihanna and Beyonce.
Ester Dean is a song writer, actress, singer. The only thing she's really known for is her role as Cynthia Rose in Pitch Perfect. She was the fierce black lesbian and will be reprising her role in the sequel when it comes out in May. |

She also had a somewhat hit song way back when with “Drop It Low”. Chris Brown was on the song. This was circa 2008 when Chris Brown was on literally every song. He was the basically the male form of Nicki Minaj. You can't turn on a rap station without hearing Nicki Minaj. It was the same for Chris Brown.
Personally, I adore “Drop it Low”. It's my twerk song and you can hold back your judgment. It was also in The Bling Ring. If you've seen the movie, you remember when it was used. That scene is iconic. He is me. |

Really, what Ester Dean is known for is her song writing. She's been behind some of the biggest pop smashes of this decade. She co-wrote this one new Nicki Minaj song “Hey Mama” that is going to blow up. I am not a David Guetta fan, but this song. It's kind of everything. I love it. I am obsessed. It is super catchy. She's also working with Britney Spears on her new album. Ester Dean is songwriter to the stars.

Of course the question raised is if she's writing all these hits, why isn't she blowing up? She can sing. She had “Drop It Low”. Where is the music. I've been holding off writing on this, because I just wasn't sure what to make of it. She released a new EP entitled Miss Ester Dean. I wasn't sure if there was going to be a physical release, so far all I've found is that it's all on soundcloud and that it will be released on the April 15th digitally.

Hopefully, you know what an EP is, but it's basically a teaser, like half an album that's a drum roll to a full release. Now, Ester Dean was signed to a record deal, but she pulled out of that. I haven't heard of her signing with anyone else, so I suppose this music is all an independent release. It doesn't include any of the songs she's released recently. I love both “Get My Dough” and “Twerkin 4 Birk'n” (which is just as ratchet as you think it is). Juicy J even did an official remix for “Twerkin 4 Birk'n”. I'm honestly so confused as to what Ester Dean's career is right now.

This new EP is urban and explicit and exactly what I've needed. Be forewarned when looking into Ester Dean that she's very straight to the punch and she knows her way around a hook. This new EP has more slower material then I might like, but I'm here for it. Hopefully, this secures Ester Dean a contract and we get an album out of her.

She's also touring with Nicki Minaj this summer. I think it's only select dates, but who knows. The Pinkprint Tour will be everything. Tinashe is opening Trey Songz is coming along. Rae Sremmurd is going to show up. Kill it Nicki. I can't imagine a better line up if it included Beyonce. I'm just so ready.
