Day 1 we arrive at the airport only for me to be told that they had "no plan" for the day. Which was not great. We had no idea how to get to the hotel or anywhere. I had made a list of things to do in Rome, so this wasn't the end of the world, but telling me an hour and a half before we get a plan was not ideal especially since they were supposedly taking "care of it" We agree that we'll go see the Colesseum first when we arrive. It was pretty amazing. We stepped off the metro and the first thing we saw was the Colesseum. The actual Colesseum. |
After Rome we spent a day going to Pisa and Florence, which I suppose was exciting. Both Pisa and Florence only have buses, so that's not exciting. I don't like buses, but c'est la vie. I felt no compulsion to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa in person, but I got to see it in real life. I guess you can say that's pretty cool. They also had a surprising amount of Indian food in Pisa. Don't know what that was about. Europeans have a thing against sunscreen as well. You can't tell, but I got pretty Red that day. |
We were only in Venice for a day, but I'm personally okay with that. I'm really glad I got to see Venice, but I think if your going to spend a lot of time in Venice, you have to spend a lot of money to have a good time there. It costs 80 euros to use a gondola, which is just too much. Part of the fun in Venice is getting lost. From the ferry it was a three minute walk to our hotel and it took us 45 minutes to find it. Part of this problem was finding the bridge we needed to cross the canal. It was pretty horrid, but we did it. We saw Venice. The real Venice. I can say of the food in Italy that we do just as good of a job making Italian. We could move there and open our own place. |
