Rome, Pisa, Florence, Venice

The post in the bottom of the corner looks so much like a person that I've considered cropping it out

​Day 1 we arrive at the airport only for me to be told that they had "no plan" for the day. Which was not great. We had no idea how to get to the hotel or anywhere. I had made a list of things to do in Rome, so this wasn't the end of the world, but telling me an hour and a half before we get a plan was not ideal especially since they were supposedly taking "care of it"

We agree that we'll go see the Colesseum first when we arrive. It was pretty amazing. We stepped off the metro and the first thing we saw was the Colesseum. The actual Colesseum.

We also stopped at the Trevi Fountain. I did not throw a coin in it, but I touched the water. It was perfectly clear. We also got Gelatto while we were there. I liked it well enough. Jodi and her mother got gelatto everywhere for the rest of the trip, but I don't have that kind of expendable income. None of the pictures turned out great, but I edited one and I think it looks trippy.

Saturday we went on a tour of the Vatican, which was so neat. It was literally the coolest. I saw the Sistine Chapel in person, which funny enough after walking through the entire Vatican, which was chock full of painted ceilings, the Sistine Chapel seemed, underwhelming. I think the imagery and what everything stood for is what made it a masterpiece. Things, I didn't quite understand, but that our tour guide explained. I'm not enough of an art person to really appreciate it. Still, it was gorgeous. The whole thing was really neat. Very crowded, but very neat.

​After Rome we spent a day going to Pisa and Florence, which I suppose was exciting. Both Pisa and Florence only have buses, so that's not exciting. I don't like buses, but c'est la vie. I felt no compulsion to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa in person, but I got to see it in real life. I guess you can say that's pretty cool. They also had a surprising amount of Indian food in Pisa. Don't know what that was about. Europeans have a thing against sunscreen as well. You can't tell, but I got pretty Red that day.

​Florence was good. Glad I went for the day. I saw someone from my school while I was there. She showed us around Florence. I'm afraid the only picture I got was of me standing in front of David. Not the REAL David, but I got a better picture standing in front of the fake David outside the museum, then the one inside.

We were only in Venice for a day, but I'm personally okay with that. I'm really glad I got to see Venice, but I think if your going to spend a lot of time in Venice, you have to spend a lot of money to have a good time there. It costs 80 euros to use a gondola, which is just too much. Part of the fun in Venice is getting lost. From the ferry it was a three minute walk to our hotel and it took us 45 minutes to find it. Part of this problem was finding the bridge we needed to cross the canal. It was pretty horrid, but we did it. We saw Venice. The real Venice. I can say of the food in Italy that we do just as good of a job making Italian. We could move there and open our own place.

​We're going to get the Venice feel in Amsterdam with the canals, without the confusing maze of alley ways. We saw Peggy Guggenheim's house, which was WILD. It was a mansion... in Venice. How incredibly insane is that?
