Nicole Richie. Television personality and socialite has announced that she will be releasing a limited quantity of sunglasses designed for House of Harlow. The breakout actress on NBC's Great News is known for her signature over sized frames. The star is the creative director for the House of Harlow, a brand largely known for it's accessories. The limited edition release is being called a capsule collection, in which there will only be a 1,000 available for the most dedicated fans. |
The frames are rounded, recalling Boho chic or flower power glamour. The frames come in three colors: black, gradient, and gold. John Lennon would fill perfectly comfortable behind these sets of shades. The price of the sunglasses range from $250-$300. You can buy them here.

The kickstarter that started this male fashion craze has raised over $45,000 according to Vogue. The design company is abbreviated ACED and they hope to attract men all over. I for one can see men donning rompers. They just need that preppy, Martha's Vineyard, frat boy douchebag attitude to make it work.
Personally, I was obsessed with this black and pink coat. It was faux fur. Who can afford to buy real fur after all? The clerk and I laughed about that in the most moneyed way possible. I never found the price tag, but the matching clutch (which didn't even come with a chain) totalled over $300. I'm imaging that animal friendly coat was over a $1,000. Even, with a store wide 30% I couldn't afford it. Would I recommend going in? Of course and someday I have a dream of buying something there. If you don't like the clothes, you can always buy the furniture. Everything is for sale. Everything. 20Twelve is a lifestyle brand that continues to power on even after the year that was supposed to end. The store offers a range of clothes both fashion forward and less so, but no matter what you pick you'll end up with a statement piece that no one else in your tax bracket is sure to duplicate.
Beth Ditto is gorgeous. An entire Snapshot Saturday was dedicated to her on this blog. You can read that article here. Inside and out. Weight is not a character flaw. She is the perfect person to make a stab at this endeavor. She knows better than anyone what kind of clothes it takes to make a woman confident, especially in a society that looks down on women who are bigger than a size 8.
All of these can be purchased on Beth Ditto's website (here)
Blogger, Perez Hilton was even seen rocking her corset tee, a shirt that tragically would dwarf my body in its smallest size. And, that’s a good thing! Where normally overweight women look at clothing and see that it doesn’t come in their size, it’s refreshing for me to see clothing that’s not made for me, that I can’t wear on my body. Beth Ditto is catering to a group that isn’t the majority and she’s doing a fantastic job at that.
This list is a review of all of the albums I've bought this year. They are all rated on a scale of 1 to 5 bubbles. My favorite song is listed along with the album. This is determined solely based on how many times I've listened to it individually.
Music comes in so many different forms and textures that it's hard to say definitively what album is “better” then another. I never did buy Adam Lambert's The Original High, but from what I've listened to it's a stellar return to form. The same goes for Selena Gomez's Revival. When I heard Justin Bieber's new album Purpose I found it to be acceptable plodding mid tempo fair. However that said, I know quite a few people who really enjoy his new musical direction. Ellie Goulding's Delirium is not in my taste, but if you're a fan of her earlier work her new seventeen track epoch should satisfy
The most important news in music this year is the continuing lawsuit between Kesha and Dr. Luke. She is asking to be released from her contract after revelations of physical and mental abuse on the part of her record producer Dr. Luke. Sony Music has refused to let her out of her contract and is siding with Dr. Luke. A growing protest has started, creating the trending hashtags #FreedomForKesha and #SonyMusicSupportsRape.

Broke With Expensive Taste: Azealia Banks
2 ½ Bubbles The album originally dropped too little digital fanfare in 2014 finally saw it's physical release in 2015. Azealia Banks is the beleaguered rap artist more known for her trans-phobic discourse and public melt downs. Her first album, although full of solid moments tends to drag and concepts run into one another. And, nothing on the album quite replicates the viral sensation of “212”. The best cuts off the album tend to be the singles. Most Played Song: Tie between “Heavy Metal and Reflective” and “BBD” Buy Broke With Expensive Taste
The Eephus: Wondaland
3 ½ Bubbles A joint EP released by Janelle Monae's recording mates on Wondaland none of the songs on the EP live up to the fun of singles “Classic Man” and “Yoga”. The bonus remix of “Classic Man” featuring Kendrick Lamar does little to liven up the final two songs off the EP, which are both slow burns. Most Played Song: “Yoga” featuring Jidenna. Buy The Eephus Emotion: Carly Rae Jepsen 4 Bubbles The much lauded album by Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen it features “Really Like You” a song that intended to return her to the top of the charts with a cameo studded music video. The album is a glossy, easy breezy, down your throat listen, even at 17 tracks long. An accomplishment that goes much further then any of the album's singles did. Most Played Song: “Your Type” Buy Emotion
The Fool: Ryn Weaver
2 ½ Bubbles This album hinges on an experimental electronic influence that is well captured on buoyant songs “Pierre” and “Octahate”. Ryn Weaver never quite matches the magic that made her contemporary, Halsey's debut so fascinating. It's a listenable if unremarkable debut. The Fool also features one of the most pretentious songs of 2015 finalized with the spoken word outro on “Traveling Song” that consists of talking about “turtle soup” Most Played Song: “Octahate” Buy The Fool
How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful: Florence and The Machine
4 Bubbles The first release from the indie rock band in four years it finds Florence Welch deepening her outlook on themes explored on their other two studio albums. The album is bolstered by her voice and big strings. Some songs falter in their length and remarkability, but the album is focused none the less and features some of the most anthmetic and personal work of her career. Most Played Song: “What Kind Of Man”
Peace is the Mission: Major Lazer
3 ½ Bubbles Another Diplo helmed DJ set, his production as Major Lazer is decidedly reggae themed. Featuring global smash “Lean On” the album powers through some of the most fun dance music produced this year. The album features guest vocals from superstars Ellie Goulding and Ariana Grande. Most Played Song: “All My Love (Remix)” featuring Ariana Grande and Machel Montano. Buy Peace Is The Mission
Pitch Perfect 2: Soundtrack
3 Bubbles The album fares just as well as the movie did. The more you liked the movie, the more you'll appreciate the accompanying soundtrack. As so often is the case the sequel proves to be not as good as the original. Besides the movies chronicled performance it also features new music from Ester Dean and Jessie J. Most Played Song: “Crazy Youngsters” by Ester Dean Buy Pitch Perfect 2
Reflection: Fifth Harmony
3 Bubbles An initial glance at this album would show it to be one of the glossiest releases of the year. The first five opening songs are exemplary of what processed pop is supposed to sound like. It's the final six tracks that sink into the nineties influenced R&B that Ariana Grande does so well, except on Fifth Harmony they play like throwaway B-Sides. The album although promising doesn't show the full potential of the group. Most Played Song: “Top Down” Buy Reflection Sremm Life: Rae Sremmurd 4 Bubbles Rap's latest and greatest duo, Rae Sremmurd dazzle with the ridiculous jangling of “No Flex Zone” and “Unlock The Swag”. The album benefits from guest appearances by Nicki Minaj and Big Sean. A thoroughly fun ride and the antithesis of what Kendrick Lamar is trying to do with the genre. Most Played Song: “No Flex Zone” Buy Sremm Life
Favorite Album of The Year: Breathe In. Breathe Out by Hilary Duff
Favorite Song of the Year: "Breathe In. Breathe Out" by Hilary Duff
The only way to express what Kerli is doing is that she's a survivor. She grew up in an abusive household. Something she attributes to the dark undertones of her first album Love Is Dead. “Until you're absorbed by darkness you can't overcome it and face the light.”
Anyone paying close attention in 2008 would have been looking at Kerli to make it big. Even now there's still this possibility that she could be huge. The album has a twisted fairy tale aesthetic and is alternative goth electronic. It was experimental in a boundary pushing way. It's only single “Walking On Air” didn't make any impact in the United States.
Utopia's lead off single remains one of my favorite songs. “The Lucky Ones”. It's gorgeous synth. Simple but effective. Her voice is the emotional centerpiece and the music video only drives home it's central idea. When I say it's one of my favorite songs, that's an exaggeration. I'm constantly coming back to it and being inspired by it.

The novel of hers I got from the local library was Thrill! I'd seen it from a distance. I'd picked other books over it. Jackie Collins has titled her books much better. See The Stud and Poor Little Bitch Girl for examples. The cover was also tranquially electric. Momma told us not to judge a book by it's cover and that's what I did.
It centers around actress Lara Ivory. Everyone else is subplot. She is the star of the show. I can't say I like the ending of the book. It wasn't satisfying. It did do it's job. I just loved Lara too much for her life to converge in that way.
I honestly didn't know if I liked this book for the longest time. The wording was heavy and I was just trying to figure it out. Then, about page 250 I realized that I intensely did not like this book. Fun fact the book is only 337 pages long. I finished it.
Let me tell you what this book is actually about. The flap does not explain anything. The book centers around Sergeant Lester Ferris and his affection for this boy. It's a really sweet relationship. The sergeant just wants to take care of him and make him his son. I actually really liked the Sergeant without enjoying the book. I also like the boy.
All of that said. This book does have it's own charm and for some the writing style might not be prohibitive into getting into the novel. I imagine if your a middle aged heterosexual man retired to Bermuda with a snifter of brandy in has hand, you would find this book quite entertaining. AND NOT AT ALL HEART BREAKING AND DISAPPOINTING.
It appears to be working. The show has already been renewed for a second season, although it remains unclear if it will be a continuation of this plot line of if it will center around a new cast much like American Horror Story.
Mr. Branson: The Teacher
Most of these actors don't have wikipedia pages and there acting is two dimensional. The characters are wooden and predictable. The popular jocks and girls and the outsiders. The people who don't fit in. The boy who just moved to town. The hot teacher. Sex obsessed students. Wild parties.
It works. I'm obsessed with this show. I anticipate every Tuesday. This show is a self aware drama. The students are taking an American Gothic literature class and one of them explains that a slasher show “just wouldn't work”. In fact MTV has marketed it on this point. And, in truth one person was hanged. Not slashed
I saw one person say it was going to be the teacher. They were like its “so obvious” and I was just like is it? Is it really? I have no guess at this moment. I'm just enjoying the ride.
We also don't have enough main characters to kill one person every week. There was one episode where we only killed one person and I'm just wondering how this is supposed to work. And, I'm supposed to be invested in these people. Just to have them axed. I don't know how much I'm about that life. But, I'll be watching.
Cherie Cheezcake has started watching this show along with Black. It is the five star experience across the boards. I know we're already half way through the season, but you can catch up on MTV.
Watch the first episode here.
“Sparks” features a fun little whistle. It calls back to mind when “Pumped Up Kicks” was the ruling the radio and it had that whistle in it. I think “Sparks” is seriously catchy and it has that hit potential that I love. Hilary Duff needs a new hit or we're never going to get her new album.
I think “Sparks” is a return to form in the pop world. I personally love “All About You” and I think it had hit potential. I don't know why it didn't take to radio the way it should have. I think “Sparks” can be that hit she's looking for. One of her cowriters on the song is Tove Lo. She sang “Stay High” and her new song “Talking Body” might be her next big hit. This collaboration is working.
Bloodshy is also part of this production team. He's a record producer behind Britney Spears hit “Toxic” and Madonna's much celebrated Confessions on a Dancefloor. This is a good projectile to get Hilary that hit.
I really like the song. I like the lyrics. I think there sexy and cute and adorable. I'm really feeling this song. It's also being used as the theme for Hilary's new show Younger. Which is killing the game. No news yet on whether it's the ratings success TV Land has been hoping for, but so far it's been maintaing steady views.
Definitely check out Hilary's new song and watch Younger every Tuesday at 10/9 central on TV Land

I do things and I just act so surprised by their results. Jenny Lewis is one of the only reasons I live. Her album The Voyager is a musical description of me in 2014. It was one of the four albums that made my best of list at the end of the year. I am obsessed with Jenny Lewis.
She has three studio albums. Rabbit Fur Coat, Acid Tongue, and The Voyager. All of them with the seal of approval from Anne Hathaway, because yes Anne Hathaway is obsessed with Jenny Lewis. These albums are what I like to call instant classics and if Jenny had won for album of the year over Beyonce, I could have dealt with it. Beyonce still would have been robbed, but it's Jenny Lewis and she slays everything.
Because, what would a girlfriend do to make her fans look at her boy toy? Record an album together. Not only would they record the material together, but they would go on tour with one another. That is a win-win situation all the way around.
Still I avoided this album, because as much as one loves Jenny my interest in her boyfriend is non existent. The Voyager is one of my favorite albums ever. And, there is no such thing as too much Jenny Lewis. I decided I needed to get the Jenny & Johnny album, I'm Having Fun Now.
It was the greatest decision of my life. No real surprise. As of the day this was posted there is no news of a new Jenny & Johnny album. That is okay. The music is on fleek (crosses fingers that I used that correctly). They killed it, but no matter how hard Jenny tries to stand in the background it's so easy for her to upstage her boyfriend.
She gives him lead on two of the stronger tracks off the LP, “Committed” and “Animal”. It changes nothing that he has nice, simple vocals, she over empowers him just by harmonizing. I'm Having Fun Now is supposed to be a showcase for her boyfriend, but it only strives in proving the quality of Jenny Lewis as a performer.
Don't feel over whelmed to get this album on CD. The packaging is basic. There isn't even a booklet and the disc is this dated blue, sub par excuse for design. That said the album is great. It's the kind of album you take with you on a road trip and you just listen to. You sing. You roll the windows down. It's great. It's very Southern California.
Buy "Big Wave"
One thing this album doesn't make me question is if the pair is really having fun now.
