Cosmopolitan
One of the most free spirited monthly magazines that is made up of some of the most fun bullshit I've ever heard of in my life. I looked up what a 'cosmopolitan' is and according to a google it's a person who's at ease in many different countries. I'm not sure if Cosmopolitan fills that void, but I've always enjoyed it. I love Cosmo. The only time I ever buy it is when I've run out of reading material or there's someone on the cover worth reading about. You know I'm a hardcore Hilary Duff stan and of course I had to buy her the issue of Cosmo that had her on the cover. Hilary looked so good. It was a hot damn moment. |
Now, I've never gotten a subscription, but this April issue of Cosmo has convinced me to change my mind. I've always loved how girl power this magazine is. It's inspiring. Yes, there's some insane sex tips, but who doesn't enjoy good sex tips? Every single one of them is off the wall and I love it. Their fashion advice can be questionable, but I've been conflicted by even the offerings of Vogue recently
What really convinced me to get a subscription was this amazing article they had on rape on college campuses. 1 in 4 women will experience sexual assault during their academic career and hopefully you already knew this and agree that this is an unacceptably high ratio.
They did an article on the California law “Yes Means Yes” and it was fantastic. Vogue wrote a similar article a few months ago, but this was down to earth and easy to understand. It really struck the point home. |
This is really the kind of article that needs to be in magazines. This is addressing a problematic and prevalent social issue and discussed what was being done to fix it. I really like this concept of you need someone to say “yes” or it's rape. I really like that, because “no means no” was not working. You can say “no” and it doesn't stop anything. This law also touches points on just because you've had consensual sex before with someone doesn't mean that you wanted to have sex with them again
