Way back in the way back in 1979, Anita Ward released her first and only number one single “Ring My Bell”. It was really bad timing for her. It was a disco hit and people were like “down with disco” and “disco sucks”. So, she really picked a bad time to launch her career. She is the definition of a one hit wonder.

However, this is not a Throwback Thursday and as great as Anita Ward is what I really want to talk to you about is Princess X or Liza Fox. She decided to change her name to Liza Fox. Which, is fine, but I really feel like Princess X has a much better ring to it. That's catchy and fun and interesting and Liza Fox has this rusted archaic forties singer, no one knows about ring to it.

Liza Fox is a dance singer and she's only had five songs over her five year career as a singer. She releases about one song a year. She's got “Insane in F#”, “You Turn Me On”, “Gimme All (Ring My Bell)”, “Free”, and “Dynamite”. I've honestly given up on hope that she will have an album some day, so I finally decide to just buy the remix single for “Gimme All”.

“Gimme All” is the reason I started listening to Liza Fox. I love dance music, it's kind of my thing. Someone told me that I seem like a club kid and I was like you are right. That's my music. I enjoy a good remix.
It's funny that she titled the song “Gimme All”, because the chorus is the chorus of “Ring My Bell”. Liza Fox's voice glides over it and it's celestial. I like the original “Ring My Bell”, but Liza Fox's update is everything the world could have ever wanted. If she was signed to a record label, I can't imagine this song not charting. Her revision is amazing. |
There are a lot of sexy lines in it. Like “I know you want to kiss me”. That's my favorite one or “I know you've got a crush”. Both resonate with me. Probably because I'm not a very poetic person. I've been obsessed with this song for years. The music video is absolutely perfect.
Sexy shirtless men abound, there are vampires. Back when vampires were cool and everything anyone wanted in their life. For her not being famous by any stretch of the imagination, I really enjoy her music video. I think it was well done. I also enjoy the remixes that she released. I bought her remix album and I personally feel the “Almighty Remix Radio Edit” of “Gimme All”
This song came out in 2012 and none of her subsequent releases have lived up to it, but I still really enjoy Liza Fox and her music. I think her song “Dynamite” is a lot of fun. Her follow up to “Gimme All” was “Free”, which worked on the same concept that “Gimme All” did. It interpolated another popular dance song this time “Everybody is Free (To Feel Good)”. I guess I just don't like that song as well. It didn't work for me. “Dynamite” is also built upon a cliché. That said I really like Liza Fox. I turn up to her and for as hard as she tries to be sexy, she's just adorable.
