The runway show for Valentino's 2017 ready to wear collection for the fall was one of my favorites this year. Pierpaolo Piccioli is credited for this successful showing. He's led the creative direction of Valentino for eight years. The latest collection merges “Victoriana” and the “Memphis Group” stylistic elements together. Piccioli stays away from “protesting” with this latest fashion move for Valentino. Eschewing the statement tee of Dior (“We Should All Be Feminists”) that's been so popular this season. Piccioli is oddly out of sync with long time collaborator Maria Grazia Chiuri who's fully embracing the PROTEST climate of 2017. |
