Critics of the 80s spare the 00s more credit then they deserve. Everything 80s has been cycling in and out of pop culture. The synths of Lady Gaga's breakout hit “Just Dance” have been recycled and rehashed since 2008. And, all of the fashion missteps have been chronicled and reapplied. Stirrup pants are making a comeback. There have been rumblings of it since 2015. Rihanna was promoting Home when she showed up to Good Morning America in a Pascal Millet jumpsuit, complete with stirrup pants. |
For all intensive purposes stirrup pants are just tight legwear with a strap attached at the bottom. I'm oddly fascinated with them, not having suffered through the 80s. Stella McCartney and Celine have both tested out the style, but my personal favorite are the ones designed by Versace. The elastic straps are adjustable and it should be noted that exposed elastic is only for stiletto wear. Stirrup pants might require a little more color coordination for around the office, but if your daring enough to put some on. That's not going to be what stops you. Brands such as Balenciaga and Marni also featured them in their Fall 2016 lines. |
