Virginia Hensley. That was the given name of country legend Patsy Cline. This is probably a surprise to you that I'm doing a throwback on a country singer. I don't really have a relationship with country music and you're also probably like who the fuck is Patsy Cline.
That is what I'm here for. Patsy Cline is a bad ass bitch except she isn't and she would probably be offended that I called her a bitch. She is classic country. I mean 1960's country. Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard territory. Patsy Cline is a predecessor to Dolly Parton. She was one of the first country legends. |
“Crazy” is another good one. It's all about being crazy for loving someone, knowing that they aren't going to love you back. You're hurt, even though you knew it you were going to be. I love it. Then, there's “She's Got You”. I'm a petty and jealous bitch, so of course I relate. It's got all these nostalgic references to physical objects she has that reminds her of him, but how this other woman has him.

There is also one of my personal favorites “You Belong To Me”. I always change it to the more friendly “You Belong With Me”. It's less possessive. This is just a beautifully descriptive song about how no matter where you go, who you meet, we belong together.
I've completely ignored one of her most iconic songs “Walking After Midnight”. It's fun. I jam and considering this post is all about honoring a legend it needed to be mentioned. |
Nashville still talks about Patsy Cline. Everyone is always looking for the next Patsy Cline. I've never understood her comparisons to Leann Rimes, but people still want a Patsy Cline in their life. There's even a musical about her life. Patsy Cline will always be a monarch of country music.
