I've known of this song forever, but it's only been recently that I've become obsessed with it. “Hold Me Now” is one of the most iconic hits by the British band The Thompson Twins that also includes “Lay Your Hands On Me” and “King For A Day” among other top 40 entries. The song is syrupy sweet and one of those musical moments that once you feel, you really feel. It promoted their platinum selling album Into The Gap that was released in 1984. |
“Hold Me Now” is expertly covered by her and improved upon. Tom Bailey sang lead on the original and his voice although radio friendly was never the best. The new version keeps all the sentiment for a 21st century audience, unfamiliar with the original. Eden has yet to bring out any new music and it seems unlikely that the Dirty Blonde EP will be getting a release. So, in the meantime we'll just have to enjoy her cover of a Thompson Twins classic and revel in “Push It”. A song released when she still went under the moniker of Jessie and the Boy Toys. |
