There's nothing like a former teen idol to be at once wholly part of the culture and an instant throwaway except to a marginal group of people. September 27th is the birthday of millions of people- Lil Wayne included- it also happens to be the day Shaun Cassidy was born. Teen idol/heartthrob, they're all interchangeable words. He's the son of Shirley Jones (The Partridge Family) and his brother is the marginally more famous David Cassidy. His father was singer/actor Jack Cassidy and it seemed destined that Shaun would be a star. |
Shaun capitalized on the show's popularity releasing the #1 hit “Da Doo Ron Ron” a platinum selling parent album as well as releasing a string of top ten hits. He was both actor and singer and he had much success in these roles until the inevitable fade of a teen star. It's one of the many pitfalls of young fame, a pitfall other child stars have managed to navigate, Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus as notable successes. He may not be textbook famous, but a quick google search ascertained he's worth $20 million dollars so 58 can't be that hard on him. |
